For Family and FriendsThe US-built WindRider 17 is equipped with two cockpits in the main hull for those who like to sail with friends and family. The aft and forward cockpits each seat one person and you can bring more buddies along with optional seats on the bolt-roped trampolines. Social or family sailors can spend the day beach-sailing in comfort and safety. The single line roller furling jib makes it easy to tune the ride for “easy and stable” for the youngsters or “fast and wet” for the teenagers. The WindRider 17’s shallow draft makes it a natural for swapping rides off the beach; or throw down an anchor and furl the sails to create a swimming platform with lots of places to grab on and rest! Adventure Sailor/CamperThe WindRider 17 has also been designed with the adventure sailor/camper in mind. There’s no tiller (unless you want one) and the boat can be intuitively steered with foot pedals from the rear cockpit or optionally from the centre cockpit if you have a buddy along. You can also attach an optional motor mount if you want to take along a motor for calm days or getting in and out of tight spots. Camp cruisers can pack enough gear for multi-day adventures into the WindRider 17’s covered, dry centre cockpit or use drybags and pack it onto the trampolines. Performance SailingThe performance sailor is not forgotten in the WindRider’s design. All sail controls are within two feet of the driver which makes soloing a breeze! It doesn’t take much air to drive the hulls and moderate to stiff breezes can produce exhilarating speeds. If that’s not enough then add an optional turbo reacher kit for a real adrenaline rush!
